WHAT IS IT ?

Scientific discoveries are put into application by engineers to get economic solutions to technical problems. For this an engineer needs to apply the theories and principles of chemistry, physics and mathematics to design and develop products for practical use.

There are varied branches of engineering and an engineer specializes in a particular branch and works in that area of specialization e.g. electrical engineering, industrial engineering, nuclear engineering etc.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The twenty first century being an era of technology where there is an ever increasing demand for engineers who are technically trained. Engineers can either pursue specialisation in their respective fields or work as an engineer in private or public sector enterprises, merchant navy, armed forces & civil aviation industry.

DETAILS OF THE COURSE

Students who have completed their 10+2 with a certain percentage in physics chemistery and mathematics can apply for this stream. This is a 4 year course after which one gets a degree of Bachelor of Techonology or Bachelor of Engineering(B.Tech\B.E.). An aspiring student to get admission has to sit for the enterance examinations conducted by various institutes state and central govt. After completing B.Tech an engineer can go for post graduate courses for which he has to qualify in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or National Eligibility Test (NET of UGC). There is also a provision for post graduate course after 10+2 which is a 5 year integrated course.
