COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS IN INTERVIEWS
Ever wished
you could know questions before the examination? Here are a few commonly asked questions
in all interviews. Prepare yourself well to answer these questions before going for the
interview.
1) Tell us something about yourself - The interviewer is not interested in your personal
details. He wants to know how confident you are and how your background and interests help
you to develop as a better human being.
2) What do your friends say are your good & bad points? - Do not try to boast yourself
or show that you have a bad self-esteem. You should give a balanced answer. The personal
qualities you state should be of use to the company and in accordance to your proposed job
profile. The interviewer wants to see whether you are aware of your weaknesses. The
negative traits you mention should be those on which you can work upon and improve. Tell
the interviewer how you have put in efforts to overcome your negative points in your
past.
3) What makes you different from other candidates for this job? OR Why should we hire you?
- Do take sometime before answering the question. Think of your skills and knowledge that
might be beneficial to the company. Highlight your attitude to show how you can be
different from the rest of the candidates.
4) What is your greatest weakness? - Your weakness should not in any way throw a bad light
on your overall personality or character.
5) Describe your most challenging experience. - The experience can be either in personal
life or your professional life. But keep in mind that whatever you learnt from that
experience should be of great value in your professional front as well.
6) What did you dislike most about your last job? - Do not ever say that you found your
job boring or criticize the responsibilities you had. An answer expressing that the lack
of new challenges made you give the job up, might be more suitable.
7) Why are you looking for a new job or why did you leave your old one? - In answer to
this question you have to present your picture as that of an enterprising person, who is
always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow. If you are leaving your job
because of some problems in your present office, do not let them show in your answer. It
will throw a bad light on your working attitude.
